Augustine Goebel is originally from Marin County, California, but attends school at Skidmore College in Upstate New York, where he majors in English and Dance and will be earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in May of 2025. He is interested in exploring the intersections of the two art forms and what that might mean in terms of his own identity.

He has had the opportunity to dance with Fredrick Earl Mosley, Peter Chu, Brenda Way and Dexandro Montalvo, Larry Keigwin, and Robert Battle. In the spring of 2024, he studied in Arezzo, Italy at the Accademia Dell’Arte dance program. Although he is most versed in modern and contemporary styles and choreography, he also loves improvisation and has explored contact improvisation as an independent study at Skidmore.

In 2024, he was accepted into the New York Summer Writers Institute, where he worked with authors Cristina Garcia, Jenny Offilll, Rick Moody, and Karan Mahajan. He writes prose-poetry and fiction short stories, and one day hopes to turn smaller thoughts into a larger, full-length novel.

Augustine enjoys wandering in the woods, skiing, splashing around in ocean surf, listening to folk music, drinking tea, observing, holding both of his cats at the same time, reading fiction, and gnomes.
